Questionnaire #1: Classroom Use
PLEASE SUBMIT ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 15, 1998

MicroObservatory is a "work in progress."
As we are continually working to increase the
usefulness of the telescopes to teachers and students, your
responses to these questions will
assist us with improving the educational value of this project.

Name: 1) The National Science Foundation is interested in ways in which using MicroObservatory might help teachers "change their practice." Does it? In what ways might it or should it? What is different about using MicroObservatory than the "normal" way of teaching? How would you assess whether teachers who use MicroObservatory have changed (improved?) teaching as a result? 2) What curriculum are you or your colleagues now using? What textbook? How might you get MicroObservatory to fit in to the curriculum smoothly? 3) What kinds of student research using the telescopes could you envision? 4) How is using MicroObservatory different from downloading images from a pre-existing database or archive? How is it more effective educationally? 5) We would like to assess student's abilities pre- and post- using the telescopes. Would being asked a single question (for example, a multiple choice question) each time the user requests an image be accepted, or do you think it would deter users? 6) How could MicroObservatory be made self-sustaining?
