Since the size of the Moon is known from previous calculations, the size of the Mare is easily determined. Simply compare the size of the Mare with the entire Moon; in other words,

Using the measurement for the diameter of the Moon (as determined in challenge one),

Thus, the distance across Mare Imbrium is 580 miles. Suppose you could drive at 60 mph across Mare Imbrium. How long would it take to cross it? About 10 hours!
